Qualifications: LLB (Hons)(First Class), LLM, ACG

Jayne Atherton specialises in board advisory, evaluation and recruitment following a 20-year career as a national news, business and finance journalist and Senior Editor in the UK and New Zealand, working across newspapers and digital. She was also a regular contributor to Sky News, BBC Radio and TV.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Jayne is passionate about the role of good governance in business success and is excited by the potential for New Zealand to be a world leader in driving high governance standards and in responding to contemporary global issues such as ESG – particularly climate change regulation.

As a qualified Chartered Company Secretary, she has supported international boards (UK/Aus/South America) with minutes and advisory matters. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Women on Boards organisation, supporting female directors and would-be directors at all stages of their governance journeys and is a past Chair of Governance NZ's Auckland Committee.

She has an LLM in International Corporate Governance and Post Grad Dip Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability is currently ongoing.
